Mission Shorts
An evening focusing on short term mission was held at the Oasis Cafe on Tuesday 23rd February. During the course of the evening 6 medical students - Nicholas Greer, Philip Mullan, Anna Stewart, Gillian Blayney, Sarah Milligan and Sarah Masters - gave short presentations reflecting on the time they spent in India and Nepal last summer. They showed some memorable pictures and told stories, sad, funny, good and bad about their time away. The night also included worship led by Suzanna Manning, and was rounded off with some fantastic traybakes and loads of popcorn! Those who came along enjoyed the evening, and it was very uplifting to hear so many stories telling of how God is at work in India and Nepal. To read some reports of these trips click here
Medical Electives report
Gillian Blayney and Anna Stewart where on a medical elective at Vadathorasalur Leprosy Hospital in India over the summer of 2009. They gave this report of their time there:
During our elective a typical day commenced with a church meeting at 8am. The service was conducted in Tamil, the local language, and attended by VTC students and all staff. Despite being unable to understand, we thoroughly enjoyed this start to the day and could really feel God working in Vada.
An action-packed time table meant that we spent time in each of the hospital departments and were able to experience the multi-disciplinary care that is essential in the effective management of the disease. Leprosy is a condition was is virtually unheard-of in the UK and therefore not covered in our undergraduate curriculum. to read the full report click here
